Long time since my last message in this topic.
Several things have happened in the meantime though. When I made a testdrive the evening before the car should go to the "2-yearly technical inspection", the 1600 engine dropped the cyl#2 exhaust valve en totally destroyed the engine's internals. So I missed the inspection the day after and also the possibility to run the car at the racetrack a few days later. One week later I already mounted another 1600 engine and solved a ventilation problem with my 914 transmission (don't forget to move the ventilation output to the other side of the differential!, when doing a 914 conversion).
A couple of weeks later we were going to Das Drag Days in Germany with a couple of guys. But driving from the Netherlands to Bitburg, you are almost coming along the famous Nürburgring. We agreed to run some laps over there and continue our trip to Bitburg. It was the first time driving there for all of us, so we took it easy the first lap. Second lap we drove a little faster. Even with a 1600 engine it was so much fun! Many people do overtake you before the entrance of a corner, but in the corner these light bugs are so fast, it's unbelievable. Many fast production cars are wobbling through the corners with so much body-roll. Those bugs look much more stable.
Some pictures to give you an impression of our adventure.
Being chased by a M3 in a long corner.
Taking a corner with some understeer.

Hopefully more tracktime with this car next year!
